Note: There is a non-refundable $20 audition fee paid at the audition.
Requirements
If you are aged 22 or under and play an orchestral instrument, come out and audition for the HPYO!
Admission to the HPYO is based on the playing ability of the candidate. The purpose of the audition is to see what level you are at before being accepted into the orchestra. A position held the previous year does not necessarily guarantee a position in the following year.
Audition requirements for acceptance into the HPYO are:
- One piece of your choice.
- One excerpt as determined by the HPYO.
- Memorization is encouraged but not required.
- Some sight reading may be requested at audition.
No accompaniment is required.
What Instruments are in the Orchestra?
Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Harp
Winds: Flute/Piccolo, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon
Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
Percussion: Drums, Timpani, Xylophone, Various Percussion
